Truth: Work breaks can heal you, not hurt your productivity
A few years ago, when I picked my head up and realized that I was very, very far from the health and well-being that I desired, I looked for resources and support to help me repair. In the vast amount of research I did, one recommendation I saw over and over was to plan breaks in the work day (whether your work is inside or outside the home).
Pfft, I thought. I need to do as much work as I can during the day so that I can be present to my kids when they get home (and not need childcare). But then...a softer, wiser voice inside of me so gently inquired, "How present are you when you've been working with no breaks from the time they leave until they come home?" You've got a point there, conscience...
So, I took a risk in productivity, and I gave myself a lunch break...every day! I was remembering this revelation and change earlier this week when, on my lunch break, I made Fire Cider. I was appreciating the time and space I had to try something new, especially something that will benefit my family's health.
Just a few years ago, I would have been working during this time. I would not have had the space to care for our family's health. I would have been jamming hour after hour, pretending to be present at the end of the day when I'm really burnt and exhausted and then scrambling for our natural cold remedies when the bugs started crawling around our home.
It all starts with picking up your head and asking yourself, "Is the way I'm living and working aligned with my values? Is the way I'm living and working in service of my health and well-being?"
Let me know! I'm here to help! The Wellness Foundation Program was designed for busy women like you to not just learn but practice a way of life that allows you to take care of the people and things you love, and to take care of you as well.
